A Word of Thanks and an Invitation

I was asked to post the following two items by Brian and Wendy Allred:

Item 1: A Word of Thanks

This letter is an expression of thanks and encouragement to the Covenant Christian community. Many of us have suffered recently for various reasons, some bumps, bruises and growing pains. One of the intents of this letter is to refocus for a moment on one (10 out of 10) success story that has occurred without much notice.

As some of you are aware, Wendy Allred, my wife, suffered a brain aneurism 4+ years ago. If you are blessed with a long life you most likely have similar challenges to deal with. When the decision was made that she could come back to help and be with me, (As I am a selfish man) she then “received much strength from the Lord.”

She works hard each day to increase in strength and balance. She only sees the right, or that she only sees on the right side. With difficulty she diligently works each day to accomplish the tasks of life as before. She wishes to thank everyone for your various expressions of love and support.

The following is a necessary break down of why we asked for monetary assistance and the success that it demonstrates:

  • A one-month vacation in Intensive Care clocks in at about 1.5 Million dollars.
  • A one-month stay at a Rehab Hospital clocks in at 1/4 Million dollars. Thus the call for help was issued.

Over time our Cristian Health share group went to work and negotiated the 1.5 Million bill to 250K and the 250K bill to 100K and paid off these bills. (Brethren I should not need to say that, proper insurance is an expression of your duty to Provide and Protect your wife and family)

The remaining bills were mainly doctor bills. Doctors typically require you to make up any differences from the negotiated amount. That number came in at $35,000. The donations we received from family, friends, people we don't know and our extended Covenant Christian Family (including widows and single moms) came in at $35,000.

In the coming day when the Accuser clams that the body of Covenant Christians did not honor their commitment to the covenant to pray for and bear one another's burdens, if allowed, I will shout from the back “NOT SO” “GO POUND SAND”—Maybe with an attitude, and then probably have cause for repentance.

So THANKS again for your love, support and your attempts to serve the Lord.

Brian and Wendy Allred

Item 2: An Invitation

Please consider joining in a day of fasting and prayer on the coming Winter Solstice, Sunday December 21.

I propose we focus on four Items:

  1. Thankfulness and praise to God. I know I am not as appreciative of our Lord as I ought to be. Likewise, I am not as appreciative as I should be of Joseph and Hyrum for their efforts to start the fire, and those who now seek to rekindle and increase the fire. A day of thankfulness is in order.
  2. Rethinking, Regrets, Repentance. There is plenty of room for all here. If you cannot think of anything, WAKE UP, you are in deep trouble.
  3. A genuine plea for help. As a movement, we are in deep water. As we consider the return of increasing light to the world, we need Christ’s light to grow within us as well. Rather than asking the Lord for what *we* think we need, I propose we simply ask for His help and direction in what He knows we need. I would never want to limit the Lord’s response by asking for the wrong thing.
  4. A general call for healing. If we have been sufficiently patient in our suffering, and if it is the Lord’s will, may we be healed from our ailments and receive new strength and renewed commitment to serve the Lord.

Love,

Wendy and Brian Allred
