Stick of Joseph Interview on Mormon Book Reviews

I had a really great time talking with Steven Pynakker over at Mormon Book Reviews this week on the topic of the Stick of Joseph in the Hand of Ephraim. We covered a lot of interesting subjects, and I appreciate the friendly professionalism of Steven's style.

Here's the video:

  1. Thanks for the heads-up on this interview, Adrian. It was informative and thought-provoking. Blessed with the gifts of active listening and the ability to think on your feet, you and Steven make a good match for a stimulating conversation about a vital topic. Could there be anything more vital than God fulfilling his promises to his ancient covenant people?

Your comments about the LDS church shying away from God's promises to the latter-day Jews is sobering. The church has so many resources! While there is nothing criminal about a owning a world-class investment portfolio and robust real estate holdings, do those things reflect the will and manner of our savior who "went about doing good"? Perhaps the folks managing all that wealth have lost track of their opportunity to go about doing good.

Bringing up the resources in the appendix of The Stick of Joseph in the Hand of Ephraim at the end of interview was a good move. As a long-time student of the Book of Mormon, I relish the insights into the Jewish heart and mind that I'm learning about the book. I hope this Hebraicized version of the BoM touches some Jewish hearts.

I'm sorry the church threw you and your wife out. Heaving you out the door was their loss. You seem deeply, genuinely devoted to our Lord and his work. Then again, you seem to be a part of something really important now that you're not teaching Gospel Doctrine. A blessed day primed with a cup of heavenly coffee be yours.

  2. I really enjoyed this interview. I am a big believer in returning to our Hebrew/Israel roots! This book is a big step in that direction. Thankyou!

  3. My DH and I are Jewish converts to the LDS for 40 plus years.
However we no longer actively participate in the organization. We have been on a path of developing a personal relationship with Yeshua HaMashiach and expanding our trust in personal revelation. This book has truly been a breath of fresh air for us. Much gratitude to all those whose efforts made it possible. Maybe some day our loved ones will embrace it as well. Todah and Shalom Alecheim to our gospel mishpucha!
